After three years of denials, City grants Windsor man an accessible parking spot
A City staffer approved the spot a day after CBC News asked about the case, CBC reported.
Jim Thrones, 73, has had trouble walking since being diagnosed with MS. For three years the City denied his application for an accessible spot on the street in front of his home, CBC News reported.
The reason given was his detached garage off the back alley. Thrones says his truck can't make the tight 90-degree turn into it, and he damaged the truck the one time he tried.
One day after CBC News asked the City about the case, a City staffer visited on Thursday, looked at the garage and approved the spot right away. Thrones says he was told the accessible parking signage would go up Friday or Monday.
