Unifor and Stellantis contract covering Windsor Assembly expires; talks still in conciliation

The deal expired at 11:59 p.m. Sunday. Unifor says the expiry is not a strike deadline because the parties are still in conciliation.

The collective agreement between Unifor and Stellantis covering Windsor Assembly expired at 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20.

Unifor said Sept. 16 that the expiry is not a strike deadline. The parties are still in conciliation under the Ontario Labour Relations Act, so there was no legal strike or lockout position. Talks have been at an impasse since Sept. 11, after 10 days of bargaining.

The Windsor Star reported that Unifor Local 444 president James Stewart said there was no clear commitment yet on the plant's third shift.
